Our Building & Legacy

A Historic Setting for New Memories

Built in 1882, The Cyrus Place began as a German Evangelical Church designed by Diedrich A. Bohlen, one of Indianapolis’s most celebrated architects. For more than a century, its doors opened to the community — a place of music, light, and connection that stood at the heart of the historic Lockerbie Square neighborhood.

The building’s Gothic Revival–inspired architecture — graceful arches, carved stone, and radiant stained glass — tells a story of craftsmanship and faith that has endured for generations. Every beam and window carries the quiet strength of those who built it, and every echo in its halls reminds us that beauty and meaning never truly fade.

When The Cyrus Place was lovingly restored, the goal was not to change its character, but to breathe new life into its timeless spirit. Today, those same walls welcome celebrations of every kind — weddings, galas, and gatherings that honor the past while creating moments that will be remembered for decades to come.

Here, history and possibility meet. Each event becomes part of a living legacy — one where your story joins more than 140 years of moments that began beneath these same arches. The Cyrus Place isn’t just a venue; it’s a place where time stands still long enough for something lasting to begin.
